Report on the work of the Committee for archaeometric research in the structure of the Scientific Association of Polish Archaeologists (2024)
The composition of the Committee was formed in the years 2021-2023 and did not change in 2024. The Committee consists of 7 people and a three-person Team of Committee Experts, bringing together people associated with the Committee but who are not members of the Scientific Association of Polish Archaeologists. As we indicated last year, we currently see the sense of the Committee’s activities in collecting information on the tools available for archaeometric work and solving interpretative or cognitive problems. To facilitate the Committee’s activities, a website irga.web.amu.edu.pl/snap-committee was developed, an important part of which are compilations of archaeometric information: the “Projects” compilation presents ongoing work in the field of archaeometric research, while the “Research” compilation contains information on research techniques available to archaeologists through the Committee. In 2024, the Committee, together with the Wielkopolska Branch of SNAP, organized a scientific seminar at which a lecture was given: Multidisciplinary scientific research in the areas of extermination camps (Treblinka, Kulmhof, Bełżec) and labor camps (AL Treblinka I, AL Dyhernfurth). The latest results and fields of possible cooperation, authors: Sebastian Różycki, Marek Michalski, Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography, Warsaw University of Technology Paweł Rodziewicz, UJK.
